What is pour-over coffee?

Pour-over is a manual brewing method that gives you complete control over your coffee.
It’s all about precision, patience, and enjoying the process.

What you’ll need

For a perfect pour-over, you’ll need a dripper, paper filter, gooseneck kettle, freshly ground coffee, a mug or carafe, and a timer.

Step-by-step guide

1. Rinse the Filter

Place the filter in your dripper and rinse with hot water. This removes any paper taste and preheats your equipment.

2. Add Coffee

Add coffee to the filter. A good ratio to start with is 1:16 (e.g., 20g coffee to 320ml water).

3. Bloom

Pour just enough hot water (about 2x the weight of the coffee) to wet all the grounds.
Wait 30–45 seconds.

4. Pour Slowly

Pour the rest of the water slowly in a circular motion. Keep the water level steady and avoid pouring directly on the sides.

5. Enjoy

Once all the water has dripped through, remove the dripper and enjoy your clean, balanced cup of coffee.

Pro tips for a better brew

• Use filtered water for the best taste.
• Grind size matters – medium is ideal for pour
• Keep your equipment clean.

Final thoughts

Pour-over coffee is more than a method—it’s a ritual. With a little practice, you’ll be brewing café-quality coffee at home every single day.
